Panathinaikos signs Swiss striker Elmin Rastonder

Panathinaikos confirmed the acquisition of 24‑year‑old Swiss forward Elmin Rastonder from Swiss champions FC Thun. The club paid a €4 million transfer fee and offered a four‑year contract running to the summer of 2030. Rastonder’s salary starts at €700 000 per season with bonuses, rising to about €1 million by 2029‑30. He passed medical examinations in Athens and will travel to the Netherlands to join the club’s training camp.

At the same time, Panathinaikos continues to search for a central‑midfield “8” after abandoning negotiations for Matías Gensen, whose agent demanded over €3 million. The club is weighing alternatives such as In‑beom Hwang and Xaver Schlager but says it will not rush the signing, preferring a secure option for the midfield role.
