Tempi train accident trial enters fifth week of testimony in Larissa

The trial regarding the Tempi railway disaster continues at the Larissa Felon Court, entering its fifth week of testimony. A total of 26 witnesses, primarily relatives of the victims, are expected to testify during three scheduled sessions this week.

In recent rulings, the court granted a request to lift the privacy of the night shift station master's mobile phone to allow for forensic examination of calls, messages, and data applications. The court also ordered the seizure of the assistant driver's service phone for expert analysis. However, the court rejected requests to call MPs Adonis Georgiadis and Dimitris Markopoulos as witnesses.

Relatives have submitted new requests for the identification and examination of bones collected from the crash site and surrounding areas. Additionally, lawyer Giannis Mantzouranis has criticized the referral of Christos Triantopoulos to a Special Court, describing the move as politically significant but potentially resulting in lenient criminal consequences.
