Panchkula school assault: 6-year-old girl critically injured by student

A six-year-old kindergarten student was brutally assaulted by an eight-year-old Class 3 student at a government school in Sector 20, Panchkula, Haryana, on October 28. The victim, who reportedly has special needs, was allegedly lured to a first-floor classroom by the boy under the pretext that her father had called for her.

CCTV footage of the incident, which has since circulated on social media, shows the boy slamming the girl's head against a desk, kicking her, and striking her with stones, a flower pot, and a brick. The assault reportedly continued even after the girl lost consciousness. The victim was treated at a local hospital before being referred to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, where she is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU and is reported to be out of danger.

Police have registered an FIR against the school management for alleged negligence under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations are examining security lapses, specifically how the attack went unnoticed despite CCTV monitoring. The accused boy is undergoing a psychological evaluation by experts to determine further legal action.
