Špancirfest Introduces Secret Concerts in Varaždin

The annual Špancirfest music festival in Varaždin, Croatia, runs from 21 to 30 August and this year adds a new attraction: secret concerts. Intimate shows will be held at hidden locations in the historic centre, with the exact venues announced only moments before they start. No tickets or reservations are required; the first attendees to arrive at the disclosed spot gain entry and receive a welcome drink.

The hidden program includes evenings dedicated to French chansons, love songs, the classic film "Tko pjeva, zlo ne misli" and film‑score music. The main stage continues to offer free concerts, opening with a tribute to Oliver Dragojević titled "Tragom Olivera" and featuring acts such as Plavi Orkestar, British electronic group Kosheen, Seine, Zoster, Zabranjeno pušenje, Dubioza Kolektiv and Silente. Tickets are needed only for performances at the Vile Bedeković venue, where a range of Croatian and regional artists will appear.

Organisers expect around 200 music programmes, including street performers, workshops, free parking and complimentary city‑bus transport to the festival core.
