PANDEF urges review of Benin-Asaba road contractors

Ambassador Godknows Igali, National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has called on the Nigerian Federal Government to conduct a comprehensive review of the concession agreement for the Benin-Agbor-Asaba Road.

Speaking on Channels Television, Igali urged the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to reassess whether the current contractors possess the capacity to complete the project. While Igali acknowledged the Minister's recent visit to the highway and his apology to motorists regarding the road's deteriorating condition, he noted that visible equipment on-site has not translated into significant progress.

The Benin-Asaba Road is a critical highway connecting the South-South and South-East regions, and its poor condition has long caused gridlock and economic delays for commuters and businesses.
