Pandora opens $150 million renewable-powered jewelry factory in Vietnam
Danish jewelry company Pandora has inaugurated a $150 million fine-jewelry crafting facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Described as the world’s largest facility of its kind, the factory is designed to operate entirely on renewable electricity from solar and wind sources.
The facility employs 7,000 workers and utilizes 100% recycled gold and silver. According to CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier, the expansion is expected to increase the company’s manufacturing capacity by 50% while reducing its carbon footprint by 17%. The plant aims to produce up to 60 million pieces of jewelry annually.
Pandora’s decision to expand into Vietnam follows 37 years of manufacturing in Thailand. The company cited Vietnam’s skilled artisans, strong infrastructure, and business environment as key factors for the move. Additionally, the availability of renewable energy infrastructure was noted as an increasingly important factor for Danish companies operating in the region.
