Panče Toshkovski urges prosecution to pursue Mazut affair investigation
North Macedonian Interior Minister Panče Toshkovski has expressed hope that the Public Prosecutor's Office will demonstrate courage and professionalism in investigating the ‘Mazut’ affair. This follows a decision by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje to overturn a previous order to halt the investigation into fuel procurement for the Negotino Thermal Power Plant.
The Higher Prosecutor's Office has now mandated the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Corruption to resume the proceedings. Toshkovski stated that his primary concern is whether citizens will ultimately see justice in this case. He noted that information shared with him by investigators from the Ministry of Internal Affairs suggests that the details of the case will be “shocking to the public” once they are officially released.
