Super League Greece kicks off with PAOK win and venue changes

The Greek Super League has commenced its 2026-27 season with several key developments regarding match results, scheduling, and league regulations.

In match action, PAOK secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Levadiakos at Toumba Stadium, featuring goals from Soretiere, Pelkas, Mythou, and Zivkovic. This win provides momentum ahead of their Conference League playoff against Brann. Meanwhile, Panetolikos broke their opening-day curse by defeating Asteras Tripolis 3-1 in Agrinio, with goals from Granath, Mavrias, and Alexits.

Administrative updates include the Super League Board deciding to move the venue for the Iraklis vs. Asteras AKTOR match to Tripolis. Additionally, the venue for the Kalamata vs. Volos match remains undecided, with a final decision expected by Friday. The league also clarified tie-breaking criteria for the season, prioritizing head-to-head points and goal difference.

Regarding officiating, EPO President Makis Gagatsis stated that the return of Greek referees to derbies depends on consensus among the 'Big 4' clubs, with a plan to use Greek referees on the pitch and foreign officials in VAR.
