Panevėžys advances urban renewal and public space projects

The city of Panevėžys is advancing its urban renewal efforts through infrastructure reconstruction and the enhancement of public spaces with cultural content.

A major component of this transformation involves the capital renovation of the former bus station building on Savanorių Avenue. The project aims to repurpose the two-story structure from a transport hub into an administrative center. The renovation will include upgrading engineering systems, installing a passenger lift for accessibility, and implementing universal design principles. The building is slated to house the Panevėžys Development Agency and the 'Panevėžys NOW' agency.

In addition to physical reconstruction, the city is focusing on enriching its public spaces with educational and artistic content. In Skaistakalnis Park, the municipality, in collaboration with the Panevėžys Development Agency and the local ethnography museum, is preparing informational stands to detail the park's history and natural environment. Future initiatives aim to integrate street art and interactive objects into various city locations, including the Nevėžis riverbank and pedestrian paths, to foster community engagement and tourism.
