Panevėžys begins major road and viaduct reconstruction works

Panevėžys is undergoing extensive road and infrastructure repairs throughout September, including the planned closure of the Pramonės gatvės viaduct for major reconstruction. The viaduct, built in 1975, requires capital repairs due to structural damage. The project, expected to span 2026–2027, will also modernize pedestrian paths, bicycle lanes, lighting, and public transport infrastructure.

In addition to the viaduct works, several other intersections and streets are affected by ongoing repairs. These include the Klaipėdos and Vakarinės intersection, where a turbo-roundabout is being installed, as well as works on Stoties, Pušaloto, Marijonų, Beržų, J. Basanavičiaus, and Stetiškių streets.

Mayor Loreta Masiliūnienė has advised residents to plan their routes in advance and allow extra travel time due to increased traffic volumes and changing road layouts. Traffic will be diverted through surrounding streets, and temporary traffic schemes will be implemented at various construction sites.
