Panevėžys hosts international puppet festival and 523rd city anniversary

The city of Panevėžys, Lithuania, is hosting several major cultural celebrations this September. From September 3 to 6, the Panevėžys Puppet Carriage Theatre will hold the international puppet theater festival ‘Lėlė gatvėje 4+0=40’ to mark its 40th anniversary. The festival features ten professional puppet theaters from the United Kingdom, France, Lithuania, Poland, Moldova, and Portugal, with performances held in public spaces such as Freedom Square and the Old Town.

Additionally, Panevėžys will celebrate its 523rd anniversary from September 11 to 13 under the theme ‘Panevėžys. KAIP MES!’. The three-day event includes music, art, theater, technology, and sports activities spread across the city center, including museums and galleries. Highlights of the anniversary include a festive fair, a city parade, and various performances aimed at fostering community connection.
