Panevėžys to host international puppet theatre festival

The international puppet theatre festival ‘Lėlė gatvėje 4+0=40’ will take place in Panevėžys from September 3 to 6. Organized by the Panevėžys Puppet Carriage Theatre to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the event features ten professional puppet theatres from the United Kingdom, France, Lithuania, Poland, Moldova, and Portugal.

Performances, educational programs, and workshops will be held in public spaces throughout the city, including Laisvės Square, the Old Riverbed, and near the Marriage Palace. The program blends European puppet traditions with contemporary performing arts, utilizing puppets, objects, music, and movement. Many of the performances will be presented without language or with minimal dialogue to ensure accessibility for diverse audiences. The festival aims to foster international cultural dialogue and bring theatre directly to the community through open-air street performances.
