Panevėžys to Install Second Solar‑Powered Smart Bench for Environmental Progress

The Lithuanian city of Panevėžys, long ranked among the nation’s top municipalities for environmental performance, will receive a second smart bench valued at €8,018.67. The solar‑powered bench, like the first installed in 2025 near the city’s cultural centre, provides seating and free charging for mobile devices.

The installation is part of a government incentive that rewards municipalities leading the national environmental ranking, which assesses waste management, circularity, energy use, sustainable mobility, climate‑change mitigation, air and water quality, biodiversity, spatial planning and environmental awareness. Panevėžys earned the highest score in 2024 and placed second overall in 2025, excelling in waste and water quality, transport and climate‑action categories. The new bench will be placed in another public space chosen for foot traffic, technical feasibility and community benefit.
