Pangram Labs raises $9 million, launches Pangram 4 AI text detector and new image detection tool

AI‑detection startup Pangram Labs announced that it has secured $9 million in fresh funding to expand its verification infrastructure. The capital will be used to scale the service and hire additional engineering talent as demand grows from educators, publishers and platform operators confronting a surge of AI‑generated text and media.

Alongside the financing, Pangram launched Pangram 4, its latest text‑detection model, which the company says achieves a false‑positive rate of just 0.0041 % (about one error per 24 000 documents) and markedly reduces false negatives. It also introduced an AI‑image detection system in a research preview, capable of spotting synthetic images from providers such as OpenAI’s DALL‑E, Google’s Gemini, Midjourney, FLUX and others, as well as AI‑generated video sources.

Co‑founder and CEO Max Spero noted that fully AI‑generated content is now ubiquitous and often undisclosed, underscoring the need for tools that make authorship transparent for editors, teachers, journalists and anyone relying on authentic information.
