Panhellenic Physiotherapy Association issues student health advice

The Panhellenic Physiotherapy Association (PSF) has issued health recommendations for students to protect their musculoskeletal systems at the start of the new school year. Petros Lymperidis, President of the PSF, emphasizes that prevention relies on adopting simple daily habits rather than maintaining a single ‘perfect’ posture.

Key recommendations include:

School Bag Weight: Students should carry only necessary items to keep the bag weight ideally between 10% and 15% of their body weight. • Ergonomics: Proper ergonomic setup at desks both at school and at home is essential. • Movement: Avoiding prolonged immobility is critical. Lymperidis notes that ‘the best posture is the next posture,’ meaning children should change positions frequently and move regularly. • Physical Activity: Students should engage in at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity.
