PAE Panionios Rejects PSAPP Allegations Over Player Exclusions

President Kostas Rouptso of Greek football club PAE Panionios issued an official response to a public announcement by the Panhellenic Association of Professional Football Players (PSAPP). The union accused the club of serious contractual breaches and of arbitrarily barring three players—Dimitris Kolovos, Ioannis Kiakos and Richard Giensen—from training on 27 July 2026.

Panionios contended that the decisions concerning the three players were purely sporting, based on performance assessments and objective statistics, and not punitive. The club said it possesses documentary evidence that disproves the union’s claims and affirmed that it will exercise any legal rights it deems necessary. It also called on PSAPP to withdraw its statement and to engage in institutional dialogue.

PSAPP maintained that the club’s actions constituted a “serious and flagrant violation of contractual obligations,” describing the exclusion as discriminatory and harmful to the players’ professional and personal standing.
