Panipat Hospital’s Unauthorized Heart Stent Causes Death of Gudi Devi
A 42‑year‑old woman, Gudi Devi, suffered a broken leg in a road accident on 21 July and was admitted to the private Park Hospital in Panipat, Haryana, on 24 July for orthopaedic treatment. The following day doctors performed a heart stent procedure without the family’s consent, allegedly forging signatures on consent forms. The unnecessary cardiac operation triggered severe complications and she died while still in hospital.
Her son, Kuldeep, lodged a written complaint with the Sector‑29 police station, accusing the hospital staff of negligence, collusion, and intimidation. Police have registered a case against the hospital and the unnamed doctors and are investigating the alleged forgery and unauthorized procedure. The hospital’s CEO, Sapna, contended that a heart problem was discovered during pre‑anaesthetic checks and that the stent was placed after informing the family.
The investigation continues as authorities examine medical records and the circumstances surrounding the fatal intervention.
