Panjab University: NSUI leaders campaign for student union elections

Congress MP Deepinder Hooda and National Students' Union of India (NSUI) President Vinod Jakhar visited Panjab University on Tuesday to campaign for the upcoming student union elections.

During the visit, Hooda stated that the election results would reflect student dissatisfaction with the current administration and the impact of recent police actions against students in Delhi. He suggested that a victory for the NSUI would serve as a message from students across North India, including Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.

Jakhar criticized the central, Punjab, and Haryana governments, alleging that the RSS has gained undue influence over the university. He raised several grievances regarding campus conditions, including inadequate security, poor sanitation, lack of facilities for female students, and issues with professor appointments and paper leaks. He claimed that student anger over these systemic issues and recent crackdowns would drive NSUI to victory.
