Pankaj Tripathi to Receive Artist of Distinction Award at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2026
Acclaimed Indian actor Pankaj Tripathi will be honoured with the “Artist of Distinction” award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2026. The festival, the largest celebration of Indian cinema outside India, runs from 13 to 23 August 2026 in Melbourne, Australia. Tripathi said the recognition is “deeply humbling” and highlighted how stories from small‑village origins can transcend borders. Festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange described Tripathi as one of the finest actors of his generation, noting his ability to bring authenticity, empathy and quiet power to every role. This will be Tripathi’s first personal attendance at the event, and he expressed gratitude to the filmmakers, crew and audiences who have supported his career.
