Pankshin Council Chairman vows crackdown on suspected ritual killings

Felix Gonung, Chairman of the Pankshin Local Government Council in Plateau State, has pledged to crack down on suspected ritual killings following two deaths in the area within a single month. Authorities report that vital organs were allegedly harvested from the victims.

Three suspects were previously arrested after the discovery of a woman’s body, and investigators recovered suspected fetish substances during the process. The suspects have been transferred to the police headquarters in Jos. Security agencies are also investigating the death of a young man found at Monday Market on October 6, whose vital organs were also reportedly missing. Officials suggest these crimes may be linked to cult activities among students or criminal elements within the student community.

To combat these syndicates, the council plans to implement a new policy requiring landlords and hotel operators to provide detailed information regarding their tenants and guests. Gonung stated that this measure aims to prevent criminals from using student or guest identities to hide their activities while working alongside security agencies to restore peace.
