Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra announces new season amid financial challenges

The Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra (PFZ) has announced its 2026/2027 season, titled ‘Mozaik’. Despite facing financial difficulties that pose a real threat to the season's operations, the orchestra plans to maintain its professional standards and performance schedule.

The upcoming season includes performances at the Kodály Center and the Palace of Arts in Budapest, as well as international appearances in Vienna and Esztergam. The repertoire features works such as Wagner, the opera Nabucco, and a large-scale requiem commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács. Additionally, the orchestra will hold a concert in honor of Zoltán Kocsis, its first permanent guest conductor.

Local officials highlighted the orchestra as a defining community element of Pécs, noting its role in preserving classical traditions while seeking new audiences through educational programs.
