Panos Kammenos announces potential political return to block Samaras

Former Defense Minister and Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos has announced his intention to return to active politics following the upcoming national elections. Kammenos stated he would take political initiatives to form new government coalitions, specifically aiming to prevent a potential coalition between New Democracy and PASOK.

Kammenos's decision is directly linked to reports that former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras may establish a new political party. Kammenos expressed his intent to intervene to prevent what he described as a repeat of the 1993 political upheaval, accusing Samaras of acting for personal interests.

In various interviews, Kammenos also commented on the political landscape, noting that he maintains communication with Alexis Tsipras. He predicted that Tsipras would attempt to consolidate leftist forces after the first round of elections. Additionally, Kammenos rejected characterizations of himself as far-right, identifying instead as a stable centrist.
