Pan's Labyrinth celebrates 20th anniversary with new 4K restoration

Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy film, Pan’s Labyrinth, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a new 4K restoration. The film, set in 1944 Spain during the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, follows a young girl named Ofelia who discovers a mysterious underworld while navigating a brutal military reality.

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the restored version will return to cinemas starting October 30th, featuring 4K screenings alongside select 35mm and 3D presentations.

For the German market, a limited 4K UHD Steelbook edition is expected to be released around November 19, 2026. This edition, which includes a standard Blu-ray, may feature a new image master, as the film has undergone a recent 4K restoration personally overseen by del Toro. While previous UHD releases utilized an upscaled 2K digital intermediate, there is anticipation that this anniversary release will provide significant improvements in contrast and color.
