Pantaleone Mancuso challenges prosecutor Marisa Manzini in court
In a Salerno court hearing, incarcerated 'Ndrangheta boss Pantaleone Mancuso, known as ‘Scarpuni’, attacked the judicial work of Marisa Manzini, the current Prosecutor General in Catanzaro.
Mancuso, who is serving a life sentence, used the hearing to contest the validity of investigations led by Manzini. He specifically alleged that the magistrate gave undue credit to false statements provided by collaborator Andrea Mantella and Ewelina Pytlarz. He also challenged the testimony of a Carabinieri non-commissioned officer.
Manzini, who has led numerous organized crime investigations in the Vibonese area, has previously been the target of intimidation by Mancuso. Following these new allegations, the prosecution has requested that the Tribunal of Salerno transmit the case files to the Prosecutor's Office for further assessment.
