Panteion University gets €260,000 for fire‑safety upgrades under Greek education plan

The Greek Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, led by Minister Sofia Zaharaki, signed a new invitation to allocate €260,000 for autonomous public expenditure aimed at implementing fire‑protection measures at Panteion University. The funding is part of a broader modernization strategy for all public universities, which also includes a €13.6 million student residence project and an additional €6.75 million from the EU Recovery and Resilience Fund for excellence and internationalisation. The fire‑safety work will consider energy efficiency, seismic compliance, legal standards and accessibility for people with disabilities, and is listed separately in the sectoral development programme 2026‑2030, not covered by routine small‑scale repair budgets.

These interventions are intended to enhance the safety of students, staff and university property, while supporting the university’s research, teaching and international outreach goals.
