Pantelleria former councilor case dismissed after probation
The legal proceedings against Francesca Marrucci, a former municipal councilor in Pantelleria, have concluded with the dismissal of charges for the unauthorized practice of journalism. The Marsala Court issued a ruling of “non doversi procedere” (no need to proceed) following the successful completion of a court-ordered probationary period.
Marrucci, who held responsibilities including communication for the administration of former mayor Vincenzo Campo, was accused of drafting and distributing official press releases for the municipality between September 2019 and February 2022 without being registered with the Order of Journalists. The investigation was initiated following a complaint by Assostampa Trapani in April 2022.
To resolve the case, Marrucci completed four months of community service, working six hours per week at the Confraternita di Misericordia volunteer association in Pantelleria. Following the positive outcome of this period, the public prosecutor requested the extinction of the crime, a decision upheld by Judge Francesco Parrinello.
