Pantelleria hosts freediving camp and youth viticulture workshop

The island of Pantelleria is hosting various community and sporting activities. The 2nd Pantelleria Freediving Camp is scheduled to take place from August 23 to 29, 2026, at the Gadir underwater archaeological site. Organized by CIUCA SUB BERGAMO ASD, the FIPSAS-CMAS federal event will involve eight certified freedivers and four instructors. The activity has been authorized by the Soprintendenza del Mare of the Sicilian Region, with organizers noting that no permanent structures such as cables or buoys will be left in the water.

Additionally, the Pantelleria National Park organized a workshop titled ‘Pesta l’Uva!’ for 30 ‘Little Rangers.’ The program allowed participants to experience traditional local viticulture, including grape harvesting and manual grape pressing. This initiative, held in collaboration with local wineries and enologist Antonio D’Aietti, aims to connect youth with the island's agricultural traditions and biodiversity. Further workshops are planned for October to continue the educational program.
