Pantelleria initiates urban planning and analyzes airport traffic

The administration of Pantelleria has launched a new phase for the Detailed Plan of the Urban Center. The local government aims to collaborate with regional professionals and technical experts to improve the urban center through shared expertise and local knowledge. A dedicated structure has been established to coordinate various municipal sectors and integrate professional contributions into the planning process.

Separately, local official Federico Tremarco provided an analysis of airport traffic trends on the island over the last three and a half years. Data shows that passenger numbers have consistently remained high, exceeding 200,000 movements in 2023 and continuing to grow through 2025. Tremarco emphasized the need to distinguish between total airport traffic and actual tourism, noting that passenger figures include residents, workers, students, and commuters rather than just tourists.
