Pantelleria island highlights unique landscapes and historical evolution

Pantelleria, a volcanic island located approximately 70 km from the Tunisian coast, is gaining recognition as a destination for travelers seeking landscapes distinct from Sicily or Sardinia. The island is characterized by its rugged terrain, dark rocks, and traditional 'dammusi'—stone houses with rounded roofs designed to collect rainwater.

A photographic exhibition titled ‘L’Isola del Ricordo 2.0’ in Khamma showcases the historical evolution of the island through the work of the late photographer Franco Casano. His collection documents a bygone era of Pantelleria, featuring images of traditional fishing, donkey transport, and minimal urbanization before the rise of modern tourism and increased connectivity.
