Pantelleria to host donkey festival and green island summit

Pantelleria is hosting two distinct events focused on environmental and cultural preservation. The second edition of the ‘Festival Pantelleria Asinabile’ is scheduled for October 2–4, 2026, at the Bunker area of Bukkuram. Organized by the Pantelleria National Park Authority in collaboration with local and regional entities, the festival aims to promote the Pantellerian donkey through scientific conferences, environmental awareness activities, and educational trekking.

Additionally, the island will serve as the national venue for the conclusion of the PNRR ‘Isole Verdi’ (Green Islands) program on September 10–11. This event, supported by the Politecnico di Torino and the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, will evaluate the results of ecological transition policies in Italy’s minor islands. Local achievements in Pantelleria include renewable energy projects, such as hybrid wind-photovoltaic plants and electric bus implementation, which will serve as models for future national strategies.
