Pantheon in Rome undergoes advanced conservation efforts

The Pantheon in Rome is entering a new phase of conservation aimed at ensuring the preservation of the ancient structure for future generations. As one of the best-preserved ancient buildings in the Italian capital, the monument presents ongoing engineering challenges regarding its complex structure and material behavior.

Modern restoration efforts are shifting toward less invasive methods supported by scientific studies to understand the actual state of materials before intervention. While the building bears the name of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, the current structure primarily dates back to the reconstruction during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the early 2nd century AD. The Pantheon is a key component of the UNESCO World Heritage site within Rome’s Historic Center.
