Panther Ranny’s Appearance in French Film Draws Animal‑Rights Protest

The French film “Le Triangle d’or” premiered on 29 July and was shown at the Utopia cinema in Tournefeuille, near Toulouse. The movie features Ranny, a captive, trained panther owned by trainer Mariana Gruss of Cinéma Évènement Animalier. Animal‑rights group PAZ condemned the use of the wild animal, calling it exploitation and urging the producers to replace the animal with visual effects. PAZ’s petition demanding Ranny’s relocation to a refuge gathered more than 26 900 signatures. The association said it had raised the issue with the film’s producer months earlier, but the request was not acted upon. Ranny has previously appeared in several productions, including the trailer for the 48th César Awards in 2023.
