Pantone and major paint brands announce new color trends

Major color authorities and paint manufacturers are announcing new palettes and color trends for upcoming design cycles. Pantone has introduced 224 new colors to its Pantone Matching System (PMS), reflecting a shift toward maximalism and emotional expression through bold, vibrant hues such as citrus yellows and mystical purples.

In the paint industry, several brands have identified green tones as the primary trend for 2027. Sherwin-Williams has selected ‘Aipo’ (SW 6421), a soft, luminous green with yellowish nuances, to promote balance and lightness. Coral, through AkzoNobel’s ColourFutures study, has chosen ‘Pedra Natural’, a grayish-green intended to create spaces of well-being. Lukscolor has also identified ‘Redon’ as a key shade for the upcoming year.
