PAOK FC files complaint against Cosmote TV over offensive broadcast
PAOK FC has issued a formal complaint against Cosmote TV following the broadcast of an offensive video intro during a program regarding the UEFA Europa League and Conference League draws. The club described the incident, which featured an insulting chant directed at the team and its supporters, as one of the “most shameful moments in the history of Greek television.”
In response to the backlash, Cosmote TV issued an official apology to PAOK, characterizing the incident as a “clear error in shot selection” and stating that the footage was broadcast inadvertently. The broadcaster confirmed that the controversial material has been withdrawn and will not be used again.
Separately, the broadcasting landscape for Greek clubs in European competitions for the 2024–2027 period remains defined by Cosmote TV holding the primary rights for the Champions, Europa, and Conference Leagues. Free-to-air coverage is provided through specific arrangements with Mega and ANT1 for selected matches.
