Paolla Oliveira to become Imperatriz Leopoldinense drum queen

Actress Paolla Oliveira is reportedly set to become the new drum queen (rainha de bateria) for Imperatriz Leopoldinense for the 2027 Carnival. According to various reports, Oliveira declined an invitation to return to Grande Rio, where she previously held the position for several years, opting instead to join the Ramos-based school. An official announcement is expected around September 18.

Oliveira’s move follows the departure of Virginia Fonseca from Grande Rio. In response to the vacancy, Grande Rio has reportedly been in negotiations with singer Anitta, who is also participating in the school's competition for the best samba-enredo. Anitta has already appeared in promotional materials for the school, though official confirmation of her role as drum queen has not been made.

Imperatriz Leopoldinense is currently preparing its 2027 parade, titled ‘A Memória do Rei e o Sumiço de Dona Júlia’, which focuses on the history of a sacred doll from Maracatu Porto Rico. The school is also in the midst of its samba-enredo selection process, with several compositions moving forward in the competition.
