Paolo Allasia, yacht designer, dies while attempting rescue in Liguria
Paolo Allasia, a 48-year-old industrial designer from Alba, died after drowning in the sea near San Lorenzo al Mare, in the province of Imperia.
According to reports, Allasia entered the water to assist three children who were struggling due to rough waves and strong currents. While attempting to reach them, he reportedly suffered a sudden medical emergency approximately 100 meters from the shore. Despite rescue efforts by bystanders and subsequent attempts at resuscitation by emergency medical services, he could not be saved.
Allasia was a prominent figure in the nautical design sector, having founded the Turin-based studio Exedesign and worked with major brands such as Azimut and AB Yachts. The local administration of San Lorenzo al Mare expressed deep condolences to his family following the tragedy.
