Paolo Genovese film premieres at Rome Film Fest

Paolo Genovese’s new film, ‘Il rumore delle cose nuove’, was presented at the Rome Film Fest within the Grand Public section. Based on Genovese’s 2023 novel, the film is set in Milan and follows an ensemble cast of seven characters across three interconnected couples.

The narrative explores themes of secrets, lies, and the fragility of human relationships. The characters include Andrea (Stefano Accorsi), a wedding photographer, and his wife Andreina (Vittoria Puccini), an emergency room doctor; Alba (Emanuela Fanelli) and Umberto (Edoardo Pesce); and Viola (Claudia Pandolfi) and Ralph (Lino Musella).

While the film addresses the complexities of maintaining appearances and the impact of hidden truths on intimacy, some critiques note a lack of narrative fluidity and an uneven balance between drama and comedy.
