Paolo Nicolato focuses on attacking phase ahead of Latvia vs Armenia match

Latvia national football team head coach Paolo Nicolato has emphasized the need for improved attacking performance ahead of the team’s UEFA Nations League C League opener against Armenia. Speaking before the match, Nicolato noted that while Armenia is missing several players, the Latvian squad is also facing selection challenges. He stressed the importance of physical competitiveness and executing tactical strategies to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

In a separate interview, Nicolato reflected on his experience in Latvia, noting his initial impression that football popularity in the country is low compared to other European nations. He highlighted the competition for public attention from hockey and basketball. Despite these challenges, Nicolato expressed his commitment to the role, having extended his contract until November 2027. He called for sustained fan support that is not solely dependent on match results, aiming to integrate football more deeply into the local culture.
