Paolo Pietschmann, Catholic priest, passes away

Don Paolo Pietschmann, a priest from the Diocese of Padua, passed away in Sarmeola di Rubano on August 8, 2026. Born in Padua in 1940, he was ordained a priest on April 20, 1968.

Throughout his career, Pietschmann served in various capacities, including roles as a parish priest in Carrara Santo Stefano and Madonna Incoronata in Padua. He also served as a religious teacher and was a member of the presbyteral council between 1985 and 1990.

His work extended to Rome, where from 2001 to 2004 he served as the Director of the International Headquarters of the Apostolic Union of the Clergy. Additionally, he worked with Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi as a spiritual guide, driven by an interest in travel and archaeology. Following health challenges and a period of decline, he spent his final years under care at the Opera della Provvidenza.
