Paolo Sorrentino enters Cannes competition with ‘La grande bellezza’

The 2013 Cannes Film Festival has announced its official competition lineup for the Palme d'Or. Among the highly anticipated entries is Paolo Sorrentino’s film, ‘La grande bellezza’.

Set entirely in Rome, the film was written by Sorrentino alongside Umberto Contarello. It follows Jep Gambardella, a writer and journalist portrayed by Toni Servillo, as he navigates a world of high society, power, and decadence. The production has dedicated the work to the journalist Giuseppe D’Avanzo.

This marks Sorrentino’s fifth consecutive appearance at the festival. The film is scheduled for release in Italy on May 21.
