Paolo Ziliani compares Juventus to Manchester City amid criticism of Italian football

Journalist Paolo Ziliani has criticized the Italian football system, drawing a comparison between the legal scrutiny facing Manchester City in England and the handling of the Prisma investigation involving Juventus in Italy.

Ziliani accused Italian sports institutions, media, and officials of hypocrisy and silence regarding past financial and sporting irregularities at Juventus. He specifically named several high-ranking figures, including Sports Minister Andrea Abodi, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina, and CONI President Giovanni Malagò, alleging a collective failure to hold the club accountable during the 2022-2023 proceedings.

He characterized Juventus as the ‘Manchester City of Serie A’ and argued that while the English football community reacts firmly to allegations against City, the Italian system allowed Juventus to avoid severe punishment despite evidence of systematic misconduct.
