Papageorgiou Hospital: 18-year-old donor provides life-saving organs

An 18-year-old patient at Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki has become an organ donor following his death in the intensive care unit. On August 24, 2026, the donation process was successfully completed in coordination with the National Transplant Organization (EOM).

The procedure involved the recovery of the young man's kidneys, liver, and heart. This successful coordination between medical teams from Papageorgiou Hospital, Athens General Hospital, and the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center is expected to provide a new lease on life for four patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.
