Papal encyclical on AI guides Spanish insurer Mapfre and Argentine CGT union

The Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT) in Argentina will present the papal encyclical *Magnifica Humanitas* on 29 June. The document, issued by Pope Leo XIV, stresses that technology must serve the worker rather than the other way round and focuses on the challenges of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

Mapfre chief executive Antonio Huertas said the insurer is the first IBEX 35 company to study the implementation of AI, citing the same encyclical as a moral reference. He noted the technology’s ethical dilemmas and explained that Mapfre is investing in AI to improve services while keeping employees at the centre of its strategy.
