Papamobil – Ein Papst on Tour set for home video release

The French comedy film ‘Papamobil – Ein Papst on Tour’, directed by Sylvain Estibal, is scheduled for home video release on August 28, 2026.

The film follows a newly appointed Pope planning a tour through Latin America. Due to a lack of budget from the Vatican, a wealthy Mexican woman offers to fund the trip in exchange for a public appearance. However, the sponsor is revealed to be a member of a drug cartel, which leads to the kidnapping of the Pope during an event. The plot centers on a case of mistaken identity when the criminals realize they have captured the Pope’s doppelgänger instead.

Starring Kad Merad and Myriam Tekaïa, the 2025 production is rated FSK 16.
