A mother and her 14-year-old son were killed following an armed attack in the municipality of Papantla, Veracruz. The incident occurred on the night of October 8 on the road connecting the localities of Miguel Hidalgo and El Porvenir.
The victims, identified as Luciana G. Z. (approximately 34 to 36 years old) and her teenage son, were residents of Mesa Chica Nueva, also known as El Corcho. Following the shooting, emergency responders transported them to regional hospitals; however, both succumbed to their injuries in the early hours of Friday.
Local and state police secured the scene, and the Regional Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible. No arrests have been reported as of yet.
