Papel Prensa begins 75-ton road train operations in Santa Fe

The company Papel Prensa has begun operating with road trains (bitrenes) capable of carrying up to 75 tons in the southern region of Santa Fe, Argentina. This logistical operation utilizes Provincial Route 94, connecting the Teodelina area to the border of Buenos Aires province.

The authorization, granted via Resolution No. 1027/2025, follows technical evaluations of road infrastructure, pavement load capacity, and intersection safety conducted by the Ministry of Productive Development and the Provincial Road Directorate. The initiative aims to reduce logistical costs for the productive sector by transporting forest raw materials, such as logs, to the company’s industrial complex in San Pedro, Buenos Aires.

Gustavo Puccini, the Minister of Productive Development, noted that high freight costs can represent up to one-third of a product's final value. He stated that the use of road trains helps mitigate these costs and argued that these units can actually reduce pavement pressure compared to conventional trucks by distributing weight across a greater number of pneumatic axles.
