Papela joins Blister Pack Collective to advance fibre packaging

Papela has joined the Blister Pack Collective as its first converter partner, aiming to accelerate the commercialization of recyclable, dry moulded fibre blister packaging. The initiative, established by PA Consulting and PulPac, seeks to develop fibre-based alternatives to traditional plastic blister packs, which are commonly used for tablets and capsules but are often difficult to recycle.

By joining the collective, Papela will provide practical converter expertise specifically for nutraceutical, supplement, and healthcare packaging. This participation strengthens a group that already includes major consumer health companies such as Haleon, Opella, Bayer Consumer Health, and Sanofi Rx.

The project utilizes PulPac’s patented dry moulded fibre technology, which uses renewable pulp and cellulose to create low-cost, high-performance packaging with a lower carbon footprint than plastic. The collaboration is designed to reduce innovation barriers and ensure that sustainable formats can meet the scalability and protection requirements needed for mass market adoption.
