Paper packaging gains popularity in ready-to-drink coffee industry

The global ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee market is projected to exceed $42 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 6.2%, according to Grand View Research. As the industry expands, there is a significant shift in consumer preferences toward paper packaging.

A 2025 Tetra Pak study indicates that 43% of surveyed consumers prefer paper packaging over alternatives like glass or plastic. This trend is driven by several key factors:

First, paper packaging helps maintain product quality and flavor. Multi-layer aseptic paper packaging protects coffee from light and air, preserving its aroma and taste for months without the need for preservatives or cold chain logistics.

Second, packaging meets the demand for convenience. Research from Innova in 2025 shows that 45% of Gen Z and 50% of Gen Y consumers prioritize convenience when selecting food and beverage products.
