Paphos dams show improved water capacity in Cyprus

Water reserves in the Paphos district of Cyprus have shown significant improvement compared to the previous year. The Pomo Dam currently holds the highest capacity among the region's major dams at 67.8%, followed by Agia Marina at 56% and Argaka at 54.1%.

Total water stored in the main dams of Paphos amounts to 43.3 million cubic meters. This improved status is attributed to favorable inflows during the 2025-2026 hydrological year. Other notable dams include Kannavi at 44.7%, Evretou at 41%, and Asprokremmos at 37.6%, while Mavrokolypos recorded the lowest capacity at 34.2%.

Despite the positive data, the Department of Water Development maintains a cautious management approach. Officials state there is no immediate risk to water supply or irrigation for the coming months. The region's water security is increasingly supported by desalination plants and reclaimed water, as part of a long-term strategic plan extending through 2028.
