Papoose issues cease-and-desist to Remy Ma amid divorce

The ongoing divorce between rappers Remy Ma and Papoose has escalated following a cease-and-desist letter sent by Papoose to Remy Ma. The legal action concerns Remy Ma’s freestyle track “W. Y. F. L.,” which Papoose’s attorney claims contains “profane, insulting, and highly negative remarks” intended to embarrass him and his partner, Claressa Shields.

While the original recording did not name the individuals directly, Remy Ma reportedly altered the lyrics during a live performance at Angie Martinez’s BBQ to include Papoose’s name. The couple, who married in 2008 and held a televised ceremony in 2016, have been navigating a highly public separation since Papoose filed for divorce in May 2025.

Amidst the legal tension, Papoose’s eldest daughter, Dejanae Mackie, has faced social media criticism for her relationship with Claressa Shields. During a livestream, Mackie addressed commenters calling her a “flip-flopper” for being friendly with Shields. Shields defended Mackie, stating that she considers the girl her stepdaughter and dismissed the online negativity.
